Balmoral Show 2019

Updated: Jun 2, 2019

CRAWFORD BROTHERS had a great week at Balmoral Show 2019! A solid start to our 2019 show campaign. Now we have come back to reality and settled back into some form of normality, we want to take the time to share some of our highlights.

It was the first Balmoral JJulie-Anne (originally born and bred from Clydevalley Limousins) attended with Crawford Brothers, alongside her Fiance Stephen Crawford. The rivalry between the two camps was still present amidst the reunion as the families went head to head in several classes. However on this occasion Julie-Anne was triumphant with Crawford Brothers, gaining two first prizes each time she entered the ring with Fiance Stephen.

It was a great first Balmoral for the happy couple, the first of many!

Crawford brothers were awarded two 1st places with the animals below:

Name: NIJINSKY

Prefix: HALTCLIFFE

D.O.B 08/02/2017

Balmoral Show: 1ST Place in his class: Bull, born on or between the 1st July 2015 and 30th June 2017

Haltcliffe Nijinsky

Name: CULNAGECHAN LIBERTY with her Heifer Calf "RATHKEELAND PHOENIX"

D. O. B. 17/12/2015

1ST Place in her class: Cow, born or before 31st December 2015, in calf or having produced a calf during the twelve months prior to the opening of the show.

Rathkeeland Nellie, a showing novice made her debut appearance at the 151st Balmoral Show. In a really tough heifer class, she held her own to be awarded a respectful 4th place. We expect big improvements from this heifer throughout the 2019 showing season. her characteristics and breeding are already showing signs that she will mature into an excellent breeding cow.

There was a lot of media interest in two of our show team, in particular our star of the future, Rathkeeland Phoenix. No need to ask who Phoenix's favourite handler is. She is very sweet in nature, she is lively and spirited, but she does like to be one of the girls! No one could bypass this stylish young heifer without remarking on her class. Phoenix is well proportioned, has great depth and growth in muscle but remains feminine, if she keeps progressing in such a promising way, she will be real treat on the show circuit next year. The future looks bright for our show team superstar.

However the headline grabber was our senior bull, Haltcliffe Nijinsky who got the front page of Northern Ireland's national Newspaper, The Belfast Telegraph. He got plenty of kisses from his handler, who showed her appreciation for his great efforts and being rewarded with 1st place. The kisses even reached as far as Scotland where he featured in the Scottish Farmer.

It was a very promising start to the 2019 Show season. One we look forward to continuing this weekend. Subscribe to our website to be kept up to date with all our news, stock for sale, projects, media etc
